Heading south through Gabrovo you will see signs for Uzana (a right turn out of town and then after a mile or so a sharp left across a stone bridge).

Uzana is well-known in winter as a small ski resort with hotels and a variety of winter sports facilities, but it also makes a great place to go for anyone interested in hiking as there are a range of marked trails, some circular and some linear linking the mountain huts along the Stara Planina range. Make sure you take your own map as the paint markings on trees are numerous and can become a little confusing.

In Uzana itself you can have a meal in one of the hotel restaurants, and visit the geographic centre of Bulgaria no less!
