COMING EVENTS

You will be made to feel very welcome at all the events however, if you're worried about turning up for the first time just contact me and I'll meet up with you before hand :)

Please note: Posters are usually put up on the community centre doors for events, so it's always worth having a look there to see if anything's coming up.

Wednesdays - regular event - Dance sessions to learn Scottish and Bulgarian folk dancing.

Each session will run from 11am till 12 noon and will comprise a half hour session learning Scottish folk dancing (taught by Jan) followed by half an hour mastering some Bulgarian moves (led by Dobrina and Deshka). It's all a bit of light hearted fun to get the muscles moving again after the winter hibernation, and absolutely NO previous experience required. Wear comfortable clothing possibly with thin cardies/jumpers which can be added/removed depending on the weather. These sessions have now finished for the summer.

Monday and Thursday 11am The Baba's folk group have their singing rehearsals at this time (usually!), so anyone interested in learning some of the traditional songs might like to join in. There are print outs of the words to the songs.

October 21st, 11am-2pm Roseville UK Food are due to hold their monthly shop in the village square from which you can purchase delights from the homeland such as Marmite, bacon, Heinz soups, baking ingredients and much more. Full details, prices and orders can be made through their Facebook page (click here for the link)

21st September Gostilitsa Day, our annual village celebration.

22nd September A national holiday but this year will follow on from Gostilitsa Day in being a village celebration. The theme is 'returning to your roots' and is aimed to encourage people from far and wide who have any connection to the village to return on this day. Music, dancing, stalls and entertainment including DJs and lazer show from 2pm in the village square.

14th October Horse Power! The first of what will hopefully be a huge annual music festival, aimed at putting Gostilitsa firmly on the map. This year it is combined with an international horse endurance competition, with horses being ridden over 15km, 20km and 30km courses in the surrounding countryside. Alongside this there will be fun and games down on the sports field during the afternoon and then moving into the main concert in the evening featuring headline bands. And all for free! Though do bring along plenty of spare change to take part in the games and to enjoy the plentiful food and drink. Click for link to Facebook with lots more information.

28th October 10am-11pm It's Gostilitsa Gourd Mania time again. On the previous day there is likely to be an arts workshop where you can decorate gourds for an exhibition, and then on the Saturday there will be the chance to see a wide range of singers, dancers, plays, exhibitions etc in the theatre.
